MAGUFULI DECLARES TANZANIA COVID-19 FREE

In Kenya, one of the government directives is no large gatherings which includes a ban on people gathering in their respective places of worship. While our neighboring country Tanzania as congregants gathered on Sunday, their President Magufuli thanked the faithfuls for praying and fasting for God answers prayers. He truly believes that the Coronavirus has been eliminated by God. He also thanked them for ignoring WHO guidelines of wearing masks and gloves. The Tanzania president has declared his country covid-19 free.

KENYA'S NATIONWIDE DUSK TO DAWN CURFEW 30 DAYS EXTENSION

June 6th 2020 finally arrived with Kenyans following the live televised broadcast on what President Kenyatta would announce on the way forward. So far, Kenya has 2,862 positive covid-19 cases with 85 deaths. The President alluded to the memes he saw trending that day of how Kenyans wanted him to open up the country, citing freedom, but he said he will not do it at the detriment of the country as much as he wanted to, for the sake of the economy. KENYA'S DEBT RISES TO SH6.28 TRILLION

In the quarterly economic and budgetary report, Treasury Secretary Ukur Yatani says "the increase in public debt is attributed to external loan disbursements and the uptake of domestic debt during the period." The sharp rise in debt portfolio is set to exert more pressure on the country's revenues that are already under performing due to economic disruptions, job losses, and salary cuts occasioned by the pandemic.

In 2014, the government introduced the cashless payment system for use in the matatu industry that failed miserably for one reason or the other. Fast forward to 2020, where Corona virus happened forcing the matatu industry to accept cashless modes of payment since use of currency was a covid-19 transference method.
