AFRICA AND COVID-19 VIRTUAL CARTOON FESTIVAL COMPETITION

The African virtual cartoon festival on Covid-19 has been organized by the Embassy of Islamic Republic of Iran in Kenya in collaboration with University of Nairobi, and East African Cartoonists' Society on the title "Africa and Covid-19 Pandemic" with 13 sub titles to choose from as highlighted on its call which you can access here.

Chaos was centered around Maringo area, where an irate mob of youth cordoned off the road by burning tyres in protest. Reports further revealed that the group belonged to the recently formed National Hygiene Programme, and that they had taken to the streets to vent their frustrations over non-payment.

Anti-riot police swiflty swung into action and engaged the rioting crowd in a bid to quell the escalating demos.

"Pesa zetu, haki yetu (Our money, our right)," the angry mob chanted during the fierce exchange.

We are facing a public health crisis that has never been witnessed before in the history of the modern world.  Like a whirlwind, Covid-19 struck the world so fast no one seems to understand what it is that is happening.  In a single, ominous strike COVID-19 has killed thousands, shut down economies, rendered millions jobless and overseen closure of schools. Practically, COVID-19 has completely disrupted all spheres of our lives in ways we couldn’t ever have imagined before.
