Telkom Kenya has launched a customised and reliable mobile data solution for the students, members of faculty and staff of the University of Nairobi (UoN), to enable continuity of learning, in light of the COVID-19 pandemic.
In the middle of 2019, the Office of DVC Research, Innovation and Enterprise mooted publishing the Kenya Policy Briefs as a strategic vehicle to bridge the gap between research output from academia and Kenyan policymakers.
Although three months late, the electronic submission, review, and dissemination platform is now fully operational and online, and the first issue, Volume 1, Issue 1, January 2020, has now been published.
The COVID-19 pandemic has had devastating socioeconomic impacts worldwide. This has led governments to take both fiscal and social measures in response to it.
The COVID-19 Emergency Response Fund Chairperson Jane Karuku, says so far in terms of cash they have been able to raise Kshs 917,768,950.00.
In terms of material resources, that is, food and non-food items the fund has raised Kshs 370,300,000.00, bringing the total contribution to Kshs 1,288,068,950.00
She said the funds and other donations continue to be received and will be updated in due course with a detailed list of all contributions available on the fund’s website www.kenyacovidfund.co.ke.

The United Nations has put Kenya on its Covid-19 outbreak watch list in what could see Nairobi benefit from the Sh211.8 trillion ($2 trillion) global emergency fund.
Others on the list are Zimbabwe, Sierra Leone, Mozambique, Madagascar, Indonesia, Papua New Guinea, Philippines, Timor-Leste as well as countries in Central America and the Pacific region.
UN relief chief Mark Lowcock said the list could be expanded to include more poor countries as the deadly virus continues to spread.
Since the start of the outbreak of Covid-19, the virus has spread to over 184 countries and territories. The world has come together in an effort to combat the virus and one of the many ways is the launch of a global Humanitarian Response Plan (HRP) on 25th March 2020.
The Africa Union (AU) has appointed 3 University of Nairobi dons to its Science Technology and Innovations (STI) for Covid-19 interventions .The three are Professor Francis Mulaa, Prof. Ratemo Michieka and Prof Dimbson Bulimo.
