TANZANIA SHUTS ITS BORDERS TO KENYAN TRUCKERS CITING SABOTAGE IN VIRUS WAR

Tanzania’s government on Monday 18th May 2020, announced an indefinite ban on cargo drivers from Kenya in an escalated response to a recent directive by President Uhuru Kenyatta on mandatory COVID-19 screening at the border point. President John Magufuli’s government which has lifted most COVID-19 restrictions including a 14-day quarantine period for international tourists arriving in the country accused the Kenyan government of undermining free trade.

NEW DIRECTIVE ON SCHOOLS RE-OPENING AMID COVID-19 HAS BEEN ISSUED BY CS MAGOHA

Education CS George Magoha on Sunday, April 26, announced that the nationwide closure of schools and learning institutions would be extended by one month.

The directive is to take effect from the date of opening, which was scheduled to be May 4, 2020.

The Cabinet Secretary sought to make it clear to students, parents and the general public that the earliest schools could open was on June 5, 2020.
