The University of Nairobi Students Association in partnership with noOnes, Spidered a dynamic Pan-Africa Trade Meetup at the university of Nairobi, Chandaria Auditorium. The main agenda of the event was the implementation of the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) agreement, a landmark pact designed to stimulate business opportunities and collaboration among African nations.
Speaking during the meet up, Mr. Ray Youssef, the CEO of noOnes commended the young Africans for embracing Africanacity and embodying the spirit of Pan-Africanism. He highlighted the major role of young Africans in driving transformative change, urging them to unite in advancing technological innovations that can propel Africa to new heights of development.
The AfCFTA, hailed as the world’s largest free trade area, unites 55 countries of the African Union along with eight Regional Economic Communities. Its mandate aims to create a seamless continental market encompassing 1.3 billion people and a combined GDP of approximately US$ 3.4 trillion. By eliminating trade barriers and promoting intra-Africa trade, the agreement seeks to establish robust regional value chains, foster industrialization, and spur job creation and investment.
This collaboration underscores a commitment to equipping Africa’s future leaders with the tools and inspiration to drive sustainable development. The initiative paves the way for young Africans to harness their potential and contribute to the continent’s prosperity by nurturing a culture of entrepreneurship and collaboration. Through initiatives like these, Africa is poised to leverage its rich diversity and collective strength to shape a prosperous future as outlined in Agenda 2063: The Africa We Want.
