During the registration process, we have noted that some students are unable to access the registration portal. Please find simplified responses to queries from students relating to the registration process:

How do I get my registration number?

  • Government sponsored students (Module I) get registration numbers sent directly to them from the University via SMS and email contacts provided through KUCCPS
  • Self-sponsored (Module II) and Graduate students generate their registration numbers from the application portal

How to access the Students Management Information System(SMIS) Portal?

  • Visit: smis.uonbi.ac.ke

How to log into the Registration Portal?

How to upload documents in the portal?

  • Complete, scan and save all the documents in the joining instructions as listed on the check list
  • You can use mobile apps from play store to scan your documents. Apps such as Adobe Scan, Fast Scanner, Genius scan, Camscannner or any other apps on smart phones
  • Once you access the registration portal, undertake the following steps to upload each document:
  1. Cross-check details before submitting the documents for approval
  2. Wait and login in later to see decision from the university
  3. If you are required to review, address the issues and submit again.

What is a fully executed Bond?

  • The Bond is made by the University Council and Senate (hereinafter referred to as 'The Enacting Authority') and forms part of the binding terms and conditions upon which anyone may be admitted, re-admitted into, or permitted to remain in studentship in the University.
  • Students are expected to familiarize themselves with the conditions spelt out in the Bond and to have it executed as required. The executed Bond must be returned to the University on registration day. The Bond is fully executed upon being signed and stamped by a Judge, Magistrate or Commissioner for Oaths.

What do I do if I upload a document wrongly?

  • No need to worry, if you submit wrong documents the university will mark your registration back to you to re-upload the faulty documents and submit again. Always cross-check before submitting to avoid unnecessary back and forth

How do I know my registration was successful?

  • After the registration is checked and accepted by the University, you will see the successful registration message in your portal

How will I connect to the Orientation Programme?

  • Visit the university website for University orientation programme and your College website for the detailed programme of orientation for your college
  • Also follow the University official social media pages for constant updates.

  1. MODULE I GOVERNMENT SPONSORED STUDENTS (KCSE 2019)

This process is online.  The portal will be activated one (1) week after

Reporting, Orientation and Registration i.e. on (midnight) 6th to 14th September 2020

    • Log in to student portal: smis.uonbi.ac.ke
    • Click the icon Inter-Faculty transfer.
    • Follow laid down instructions which include the payment of the transfer fee.

NB: Students who have previously benefited from Inter-University Transfer are NOT ELIGIBLE to apply for Inter/Intra-Faculty Transfer.

  1. MODULE II/SELF SPONSORED STUDENTS
  • Write a letter to the Academic Registrar through:
  1. Your Current Dean/Director
  2. The Dean/Director of the School/Faculty/Institute you wish to transfer to.
  3. Pay the prescribed fee and attach the payment receipt.
  • Scan and email to your School/Faculty/Institute for processing.

The Transfer fee is Kshs.1,000/- payable at any ABSA Bank, Account Number 030948245531, Branch Queensway.

The outcome of your application will be communicated within fourteen (14) days after the deadline for applications.

The deadline for application will be 14th September 2020.

Chancellor Academic Affairs will address First Year students on Monday 31st August, 2020 at 9 am. The students will also be addressed by the Academic Registrar and Director ICT.

To join the event one needs internet access and laptop/desktop or smartphone. The virtual address will be on the Microsoft Teams video conference platform. The students will be required to install Microsoft teams meeting application or alternatively join via any internet browser i.e chrome, opera Firefox, and safari. The students will be able to participate in the live session by posting questions on the platform using the Q&A chat facility
