Mckinsey & Company Career Information Session on the Young Leaders Program

In partnership with the Office of the Dean of Students and Career Services, the Mckinsey & Company facilitated a Career Information Session to talk about their Young Leaders Program. The session, hosted at the University of Nairobi’s Towers, LT 401, 4th Floor on 7 February, 2023 from 11 am to 1pm was aimed at creating awareness on the company’s Young Leaders Program and guiding students on the application, interview and selection processes of the program The Young Leaders Program is a 2 year program that works on development of exceptional young talent into real leaders. The fellows selected to be part of the program are provided with frequent coaching and mentoring sessions from colleagues on their teams. The program is aimed at selecting students that demonstrate exceptional skills in leadership, problem solving and entrepreneurship. The fellows attached to the program work in various set scenarios and working styles including client project teams, collaborations with their colleagues and clients in an effort to solve their toughest business challenges. The session was facilitated by recruiters, coaches and alumni who had undergone the program in conjunction with office consultants of Mckisney & Company. They shared their experiences working with their coaches, colleagues, their interview and selection processes and the benefits and advantages gained from the program. The facilitators shared tips on the application process and put great emphasis on resume writing and making your resume stand out and adequately advertise and brand you as an individual. Since the program is aimed at solving tough business problems, the program is more inclined to picking applicants that demonstrate exceptional problem solving and structural thinking skills. Many of the students expressed great enthusiasm to be part of the program and intimidation in equal measure due to the rigorous selection and general running of the program By Mary Oloo
