563,544 STUDENTS WHO SAT FOR 2019 KCSE EXAM TO MISS UNIVERSITY SLOT

CS of Education, Prof George Magoha announced that out of more than half a million candidates who sat for KCSE in 2019, only 125,000 students who scored C+ and above to be admitted into Universities. This number translates to 563,544 missing out, which means they need to look for an alternative which their parents might not be too happy about.

I wonder how this news affects the 2020 candidates who need to be ready for their national exams KCPE and KCSE respectively. Will the Ministry of education be considerate and lower the cut off marks for them? Prof Magoha is well known for his stern not breaking any decisions he makes. There is still the ongoing debate of when schools will reopen as the number of positive covid-19 cases are over 2000. Is it worth reopening of schools due to pressure from parents and opposition from KNUT and Human rights stakeholders?
