Young Innovators: Company Program Competitions

Junior Achievement Company Program Competitions

The Office of Career Services in Partnership with NCBA Bank and Citi Foundation, we held the annual Company of the Year Competition at the University of Nairobi on Thursday 13th October. Students from various schools came to showcase their business enterprises. The Company Program provides introductory economic education for high school students by allowing them to organize and operate an actual business. Students not only learn how businesses function, but they also learn soft skills that are instrumental to success; such as brainstorming, consensus building, critical reading, gathering and organizing information, group and self-assessment, Interpreting production inventory, and oral and written communication.

Students worked in groups within their schools and classrooms to develop business ideas, test them in markets, and start and run businesses throughout the school year, all the while being coached by professionals who volunteer in the program. Mentors from NCBA Bank spoke to the students which helped them in enhancing their skills.

This year the Top 6 JA Enterprises that competed are:

1. Limuru Girls High School: Aquatech JA Enterprise
