Work-Readiness Career Clinic at The Uon Kikuyu Campus

The Office of Career Services organized a work-readiness Career Clinic for Kikuyu Campus students on Thursday, April 3, 2025, from 2:00 PM to 5:00 PM at LTB1, Kikuyu Campus. Over 150 students attended the career clinic.

The Faculty of Education Work-Readiness Career Clinic aimed to support education students in developing the professional skills and confidence needed for a successful transition into the workforce. The clinic provided tailored career guidance, hands-on role-play sessions, and networking opportunities to bridge the gap between academic preparation and professional employment.

The main objectives of the career clinic were to equip students with essential career readiness skills such as resume writing, interview techniques, and job search strategies; Provide mentorship opportunities through collaboration with experienced educators and industry professionals; Offer hands-on skills on professional conduct and requisite soft skills in the world of work; Foster networking and professional development through industry partners

Introductions and Welcoming remarks were done by the Dean of Students, Mr. Johnson Kinyua. The Dean, Faculty of Education, Prof. Jeremiah Kalai welcomed all the guests to the event and commended the Career Office for organizing the session aimed at building the skills of the students to prepare them for the world of work.
An interactive Panel Discussion by Teach of Kenya was held on Leadership, impact in Education, and their collaboration with schools and educational organizations to support public schools address some of the challenges they face. Teach for Kenya also offered information about their two-year fellowship program that attaches graduates to schools to offer support in the areas the schools require help.

Brighter Monday took the students through a session on CV/Resume writing, Cover Letter Writing and Interview etiquette. This was an interactive session where students received feedback from professionals on career paths, resume development, job applications, and digital literacy in education.


Anthony Wachira, the Head of Recruitment and Marticulation at Teach for Kenya led the Application Launch for the Teach for Kent Fellowship 2026/2027. With the application for the 2025 fellowship launched, final year students were invited to apply.

Prof. Susan Chepkonga and Dr. Sis. Petronilla Kingi, Faculty members at Kikuyu Campus gave motivational messages to the students on how to keep up with the pressure in university, how to balance studies and co curriculum activities and how to cope with life in general.


The Governor Kikuyu Campus Solomon Oketch addressed the students and thanked everyone for coming then later a vote of thanks was done by Wise Kiziiri, the Sports and Social Welfare Representative Kikuyu Campus.

This session met its objectives, the Office of Career Services looks forward to coordinating more work-readiness sessions for students in an effort to prepare them for exit to the world of work.
