Through the University's commitment to equip the newly elected University of Nairobi Students Association (UNSA) leaders with the necessary skills and knowledge to effectively fulfill their roles, the Office of the Dean of Students organized a specialized training that was conducted at the Kenya Institute of Special Education (KISE) on March 2, 2024. This training served as a platform to familiarize the leaders with their responsibilities and to establish a rapport with university staff.
Speaking during the training, the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Kiama, expressed his commitment to supporting and working closely with the UNSA leaders. He pledged to assist them in fulfilling their plans and delivering on the promises made to the University of Nairobi students. The Dean of Students, Mr. Johnson Kinyua, reassured the elected leaders of his unwavering support throughout their leadership journey. "I will closely work with you to ensure that you deliver and work efficiently, and I will be readily available to mentor you and provide leadership advice where necessary," Mr. Kinyua affirmed.
In his mandate, the newly elected UNSA President, Rocha Madzao, outlined his plans and expectations, setting a clear agenda for his leadership tenure. He emphasized the importance of accountability and inclusivity and urged all stakeholders to uphold their commitments to achieve collective success.
This training session exemplifies the University of Nairobi's commitment to nurturing effective leadership and promoting student empowerment. By investing in the development of its student leaders, the university aims to cultivate a culture of excellence, innovation, and inclusivity within the student body.
