University of Nairobi Hosts Successful High Schools Career Fair 2026

The University of Nairobi (UoN), through the Office of Career Services, successfully hosted the High Schools Career Fair 2026 on Friday, May 22, 2026, at the Main Campus. The event brought together high school students, career guidance teachers, and university representatives for an engaging and informative experience aimed at shaping students’ academic and professional futures.

Held under the theme “Ignite Your Future: Shaping Tomorrow Through Informed Choices,” the Career Fair sought to bridge the gap between secondary education and university life by equipping learners with critical information on academic programmes, subject requirements, and career pathways.

In today’s dynamic and competitive environment, many students face challenges when selecting degree programmes due to limited exposure and guidance. The Career Fair addressed this gap by providing a platform for direct interaction between prospective students and the University community.

The event featured a range of impactful activities, including presentations on academic programmes by the Admissions Office, interactive career talks led by Johnson Kinyua, Dean of Students, Naomi Nyaboga, Section Head, Office of Career Services and industry professionals from Central Careers. Participants also had the opportunity to tour selected university facilities, offering them a first-hand experience of learning at UoN.

Speaking during the event, Madam Naomi emphasized the importance of informed decision-making in shaping successful careers. Students were encouraged to align their interests, strengths, and passions with their academic choices.

The Career Fair attracted a strong turnout of 301 Form 3 and Form 4 students from various schools, alongside teachers and school administrators. The engagement and enthusiasm demonstrated by participants highlighted the growing need for such initiatives. The schools present at the Career Fair are listed below;

  1. Kiine Girls High School
  2. Thika High School
  3. Githiga High School
  4. Matuguta High School
  5. Kyaithani High School
  6. Queen of Peace Lower Yatta Girls

Among the key outcomes of the event were increased awareness of the University’s programmes and entry requirements, improved confidence among students in making career choices, and strengthened partnerships between the University of Nairobi and secondary schools.

The High Schools Career Fair 2026 reaffirmed the University of Nairobi’s commitment to nurturing the next generation of professionals and leaders. By providing early exposure to university opportunities, UoN continues to play a pivotal role in empowering young learners to make informed, purposeful, and future-oriented decisions.

As the University looks ahead, it remains dedicated to expanding such outreach programmes to ensure more students across the country benefit from career guidance and mentorship opportunities.
