TAX TALK 38: HEALTH DIPLOMACY AND THE FIGHT AGAINST COVID-19 PANDEMIC

In today’s globalised world, characterised by the ever increasing trans-boundary flows of people and goods, the further spread of the pandemic is even greater. Infectious diseases spread more quickly than they ever have before, as evidenced by SARs, Ebola, Zika and bird flu outbreaks with the largest in the 21st century being COVI9-19 that has become a global matter. Thus, the intensification of cross-borderhealth threats that results from the increased globalisation is such that it is beyond the ability of any single country or organisation to address by themselves, the health threats that they face. This reality has generated demands for more concerted policy responses, as well as diplomatic coordination globally.

Against this background, the Committee in Fiscal Studies has organised a 2 hours webinar to discuss Health Diplomacy and the Fight against COVID-19 with special focus on African countries especially Kenya. The Webinar brings together a multidisciplinary panel consisting of experts from different fields.
