PUBLIC SECTOR TRANSPORT SOON TO GO CASHLESS

In 2014, the government introduced the cashless payment system for use in the matatu industry that failed miserably for one reason or the other. Fast forward to 2020, where Corona virus happened forcing the matatu industry to accept cashless modes of payment since use of currency was a covid-19 transference method. No resistance, it is safety and health first. Enter NTSA - National Transport and Safety Authority.

NTSA is inviting bids from tech companies who will help build a cashless system and act as service providers with plans to rolled out with installations done in all public service vehicles across the country. Tech companies have two weeks from now until June 16. Enter the ban of cash usage and mandatory use of cashless payments for PSVs across the country. NTSA has issued a notice on the same early this week in their support of the government to reduce spread of the Coronavirus.
