40 members of the University of Nairobi Kili Rover Scouts Crew and their patron, Dr. Josephat Gitonga had the honor of participating in two monumental international events within the scouting world:
• The 11th World Scout Parliamentary Union (WSPU) Youth Assembly at Kamwenja Teachers College, Nyeri (November 6–10, 2025), and
• The 11th World Scout Parliamentary Union (WSPU) General Assembly at Safari Park Hotel, Nairobi (November 11–12, 2025).
These events brought together scouts, parliamentarians, global youth leaders, and global delegates united by common goals: promoting democracy, governance, environmental action, and intercultural dialogue.
Key Activities and Recognition
During this time, the UON Kili Scouts showcased their ongoing projects and initiatives in an exhibition that attracted Senator Tabitha, the Deputy Speaker of the National Assembly and other parliamentarians. They also mounted three Guard of Honor parades for Hon. Amason Kingi, the Speaker of the Senate, the Deputy Speaker of the National Assembly, and the Governor of Nyeri County.
The UON Kili Rover Scouts Brass Band provided entertainment, leading both of the opening and closing ceremonies, and even a procession from Pax Tu to Baden Powell Gardens to pay respects to our founder.
The Kili Rover Scouts also attended a live sitting of the 13th Parliament, 4th Session. The visit provided exposure to parliamentary proceedings and national legislative processes.
The UON Kili Rover Scouts were not only awarded full scout uniforms and a recognition award for their excellence in scouting but have also successfully established a close working relationship with the Parliament of Kenya and the World Scout Parliamentary Union (WSPU). This partnership is focused on advancing youth initiatives through the Crew's ongoing projects.
