Inaugural International Students Day held at UoN

The University of Nairobi Students Association (UNSA) Executive Council in collaboration with the Office of the Dean of students held the first International Students Day at the University of Nairobi Chandaria Auditorium on Friday October 22 2021.

The colorful student led occasion was graced by Mr. Sudi Said Sudi, the Deputy Ambassador of the Federal Republic of Somalia to the Kenya, and partners from Windel International Kenya, the French Embassy, the Kenya National Commission for UNESCO and Qatar Airline amongst others.

The international students showcased their diverse cultures through cultural dances from the Somalia and Southern Sudan students with presentations from the UNSA Council’s International Student’s representative, Mr. Vincent Wiso, Main Campus International students’ representative Miss Elizabeth Kuon, and the Chairman, Somali Students Association in Kenya, (SOMSAK) Mr. Bashir Abdullahi Hassan.

The Mr. Johnson Kinyua, the Dean of Students lauded the UNSA executive council for spearheading such an important event for the university community and promised to continue supporting such student led events that not only improve harmony, but also strengthen acceptance and tolerance of diverse cultures in the UoN fraternity and the society at large.

The UoN international student’s office represented by Mr. John Orindi, the Director Corporate Affairs welcomed invited guest and students to the inaugural event and in addition gave guidelines on accessing student passes, accommodation as well as the admission process for international students to the University of Nairobi.

The Office of the Dean of students will be hosting the International Students’ day annually to give the university community an opportunity to celebrate and appreciate cultural diversity.
