FOOD SECURITY UNDER COVID: TECHNICAL AND LEGAL CONSIDERATIONS WITH A FOCUS ON KENYA

As countries around the world grapple with COVID-19, they face unprecedented challenges in relation to the effects of the pandemic on food supply chains, food safety and food and nutrition security in general. This is especially so for Africa with its underlying challenges of poverty, inequality, underdevelopment, conflicts and adverse impacts of climate change that have generally been detrimental to the achievement of food security and the realisation of the right to food. With food value chains and human rights perspectives, the webinar discusses technical, legal and financial challenges that need to be taken into account in adopting measures or putting safeguards in place to mitigate the risks posed by the pandemic to food security in Africa in general and Kenya in particular. The webinar will bring together panelists and respondents from the University of Nairobi and the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations, who will address a number of topics.

The Committee on Fiscal Studies has organised a 2 hour webinar with a multidisciplinary panel to discuss Food Security under COVID : Technical and Legal Considerations with a Focus on Kenya.

You are invited to the virtual seminar that will take place on April 30, 2020 from 10 am - 12 Noon.
