The Kenya Health Workers Union Society accuse the government and council of governors of neglecting their welfare saying health workers are overexposed and not protected from the COVID-19 pandemic.
Led by Kenya National Clinical Union Chairman Peterson Wachira, the workers said their push to get involved in the fight against the virus has fallen on deaf ears.
The medics said no training has been offered to the workers besides being subjected to poor working condition.
They now want ministry of health to recognize the weight of the health crisis at hand and help medics in fighting the disease.
The officials said they have no option but to stay at home saying that lack of protective equipments has left some medical workers infected.
Kenya had confirmed 737 cases of the new coronavirus by Wednesday with the numbers still on the rise.
At the same time, the country has recorded 40 fatalities and 281 recoveries with the Ministry of Health reiterating on the need for personal hygiene and observation of social distancing.
