62ND GRADUATION CEREMONY

The 62nd Congregation for the Conferment of Degrees and award of Diplomas of the University 

of Nairobi shall take place on Friday, December 20, 2019 at the Chancellor’s Court. Members 

of the University community and stakeholders are advised to observe and take note of the 

following pertinent issues regarding the ceremony: 

  1. OFFICES

  1. Offices in all campuses shall operate normal opening and closing hours.

  2. Jomo Kenyatta Memorial Library and Chiromo Library shall be closed on 

Thursday, December 19, 2019 at 4.00 p.m. and re-open on Monday 

December  23, 2019 at 8.00 a.m.  All other libraries shall operate as usual.

  1. The University Customer Experience and Information Centre shall operate as usual.

 

  1. The Central Catering Unit (CCU) shall be used for a Reception and Robing purposes 

on Friday, December 20, 2019 and therefore, it shall not be available for other functions.  

 

  1. PROGRAMME

7.15 a.m. - Graduands and Guests take their seats; 8.00 a.m. - Fanfare & Academic Procession

8.15 a.m. - Chancellor’s Fanfare & Procession

All staff and guests who wish to join the Academic Procession are requested to assemble 

at the Robing Room, Ground Floor, Central Catering Unit (CCU) at 7.15 a.m.

University of Nairobi students who are in session shall be admitted to the Chancellor’s Court 

through GATE 5 on Uhuru Highway, on production of student identity card.  

 

  1. PARKING ARRANGEMENTS

To facilitate a smooth traffic flow, vehicles shall be parked as outlined below and according 

to the Traffic Police direction.  Holders of the University Car-Passes are  kindly requested 

to park at the Main and Chiromo campuses and walk to the Chancellor’s Court. 

 

  1. RED TRIANGULAR CAR STICKER holders shall enter & exit the graduation venue through

GATE 1  (i.e. St. Paul’s  Chapel, State House Road) as directed by Traffic Police.   

  1. RED RECTANGULAR CAR STICKER holders shall enter & exit the graduation venue through GATE 6 next to Chiromo Inter-Change on Uhuru Highway and park as directed by Traffic Police.

  2. YELLOW CAR STICKER holders shall enter & exit the graduation venue through CHIROMO CAMPUS, GATE 9, 10 & 11 and park as directed by Traffic Police.

  3. WHITE ESSENTIAL CAR STICKER

       This sticker shall be used by vehicles carrying out essential services.  The holders are permitted 

       to use ANY GATE without hindrance. (TRAFFIC POLICE AND SECURITY PERSONNEL 

       TO FACILITATE THIS).

 

  1. SITTING ARRANGEMENT

Guests shall be ushered and guided to their respective seats by Protocol Officers.

NB: Pedestrian guests may enter or exit through ANY gate.

 

  1. FIRST AID

First Aid and Emergency Services shall be available within the graduation venue at 

designated points.  Protocol Officers and other Officials have been detailed to be on the 

look out for needy cases.
