UNSA FASS Leadership Handover Ceremony 2023

On 31st March 2023, the University of Nairobi Students Association, Faculty of Arts and social Sciences cemented their place in the University’s history by hosting the first-ever handover ceremony at Taifa Hall , Main Campus. The event was aimed at commemorating and celebrating their one year of leadership. The Peter Nguka led team having come to the end of their leadership term which started on March 25th last year held a symbolic ceremony that outlined their entire journey. The ceremony which happened between 2pm and 6pm was graced by several partners who had supported and partnered with the team during their year of service.

The outgoing team comprising; Fridah Mongare-vice chairperson, Edwin Washiali- Secretary General, Razina Salim- Treasurer, Patricia Wanjiru- sports and welfare representative and Elizabeth Kuon- international representative presented the reports for the year 2022/2023 after which students had the opportunity to critique the team and highlight their favorite moments with the team. As part of the report, challenges were clearly noted, and recommendations were beautifully outlined for action by the new team and the faculty leadership.

Various partners graced the stage singing praises and sharing moments of the work they had done with the team. Mr Allan Chacha, the executive director for the Universities and colleges peace association of Kenya (UCSPAK) congratulated the outgoing team for their excellent service to the students. He noted that he had enjoyed the partnerships and was ready and excited to work with the new team. He also presented a certificate of excellence to the chairperson, Peter Nguka for being the best UCSPAK coordinator in Kenya for the year 2022. The head of BTL marketing at Tecno, Mr Erick Wawire lauded the team for ensuring the formation and running of Uon Tecno Club which had been an important aspect of the partnership between Tecno and the University of Nairobi. Other partners also shared similar comments and congratulatory message  including; Mrs. Pamela Odhiambo of Confidence Elevates, Ms. Shallom Guthiamo of Lenovo East Africa, Mr Livingston Makori of Corporate Career Academy and Mr Serylo from Fountain of Magnolia Girls.

Dr Charles Kimamo, the chairman of, department of Psychology, and the dean of students, Mr. Johnson Ireri Kinyua while awarding certificates of service to the class representatives during the event, also applauded the team for their excellent service. Mr. Kinyua noted that this momentous occasion did set precedence and would be used as a benchmark by other teams in years to come.
