Community Outreach Activities in Studentlife

The University Students Initiative to Society (USIS) will on the 27th May, 2017, Saturday be visiting the Oloolua Institute of Primate Research for the day.

The club's activities are geared towards promotion of edu-tourism, environmental sustenance and community empowerment.

Some of the activities they shall be engaged in include:

  1. Tree Planting
  2. Basic training on primate research
  3. Clean up along the nature trail

University of Nairobi chiromo KiliRover Scouts is one of the most active clubs in the university and has engaged in various activities that made it be recognized as the best crew in Nairobi County in 2015 and 2016. We engage in tree planting, leadership training, capacity building, community service, scout competitions, life skills in hikes and camps, parades and guard of honor.

Chiromo Christian Union  members visited the Kabete Children’s Remand Centre  on 10th October, 2016. The members took time to provide mentorship talks to these children. They were divided into groups of four and children were allocated to each group for mentorship. There were four major groups that had been formed by the management according to age groups i.e. 13-17yrs boys and girls and 7-13yrs boys and girls. Members chose the group to mentor depending on the age group they were comfortable with. The topics of discussion included:

PAK UON Chapter visited Kabete Rehabilitation School,   Lower Kabete.

The purpose of the visit was imparting a smile on the institution's pupils, motivations, empathy  and an encouragement. It was one of our club’s values to make them feel part of society.

All students and staff who have been directly or indirectly affected by the Westgate incidence that occured 2 weeks ago are invited by the students' counselor for guidance and counseling, her office is open.

The Students Counselor office is situated at 8-4-4 building 2nd floor next to the Cost sharing office.

 

The office is there to assist with guidance and counseling services on other issues as well. Welcome.

ENACTUS club visited El Roi children's home in Kayole on Madaraka day.El roi children home,whose director is called Susan Owour, faces many challenges, including lack of enough resources to sustain the home.It’s with this back ground that ENACTUS university of Nairobi thought it was prudent for the home to have a stable source of food supply, and this was only possible if the home produced its own food.

In University of Nairobi, the organization is registered as a chapter under the Dean of Students as Peace Ambassadors Kenya: University of Nairobi (PAK: UoN). The organization works towards peace themed activities in the country and also in higher learning institutions.

Mary immaculate rehab Centre - South B

A rehabilitation for Street Boys, its located right opposite MATER HOSPITAL.

It was one of our major activities. It was a complete success. Members contributed Kshs10, 080 and gave donations. Over 60 members turned   up for the event. We had a chance to interact with the rehabilitating street boys who have taken the initiative to change and make a difference with their lives.
