Chiromo Campus Peer Educators Clean- up exercise

CCPE successfully organized a cleaning exercise at Mathare North on 22th October, 2016. This was attended by 42 students. We took off for the event at 10:30am from Chiromo and upon our arrival, we received a very warm welcoming from the area local authorities (county commissioners office), and after our brief introduction with them, we began our cleaning exercise with the police post, along the stretch of the road and proceeded to the Seventh Day Adventist Church in Mathare North where we did finalize our event by collecting the waste and burning them at their appropriate disposal site. We must report our great impression by the locals who showed us their kindness through positive socializing and even taking part in the exercise moreover, by the church members who offered us a prayer before and even after the event.

The exercise was an outreach charity program aimed at reaching out to the society and educating them on the need of keeping their environment clean.

The objectives of the exercise were to:

  • Create awareness on the importance of corporate social responsibility.
  • Instill a culture of proper waste disposal methods on the people living in Mathare.
  •  Enhance student participation in the various organizations.
  • Create awareness on student clubs and college websites and social media sites and how students can benefit by participating in such activities and the society at
