CONSUMPTION OF RELIEF FOOD LEADS TO CONSTITUENTS BEING AFFECTED

President Uhuru Kenyatta extended the nationwide dusk to dawn curfew and partial lockdown for another 21days until the 6th June 2020. This government directive continues to affect Kenyans who need to work in order to provide meals for their families. Experts are now engaging on what the government needs to do to cushion Kenya for an economic recovery.

As these talks continue, Kenyans are hungry a large side effect of the COVID-19 pandemic. It came as a relied when the constituents in Kikuyu received food aid labeled "Stay safe". The area MP Kimani Ichung'wah accompanied Deputy President William Ruto in distributing food aid in his constituency.

What happened next only the Lord knows. Several people who consumed these foods were affected. Ichung'wah took to his Twitter and Facebook pages distancing himself from the distribution, linking to an onslaught against the Deputy President. The MP said “These are not our foodstuffs and we are not distributing anything openly and on vehicles on roads or stadiums and even the FAKE branding and items are NOT anything close to what we are distributing." Despite the suspected food distributed in his constituency resembled the relief distributed by the two leaders last week.

This story continues to unfold, Kiambu Governor James Nyoro says 12 who consumed donated food rushed to Tigoni, Kiambu and Thika Level 5 Hospitals.

There is much confusion over the real source of relief food donated to some Kiambu County residents and which is said to be contaminated, forcing the recipients to return it. Kiambu County Commissioner Wilson Wanyanga has now CONFIRMED that the poisonous food that was distributed to families in Kikuyu was distributed by Kikuyu MP Kimani Ichung'wah and a team said to be affiliated to Deputy President William Ruto. A total 24 people returned the food.

Interior Principal Secretary Karanja Kibicho has directed the police to fasten investigations into the source of the alleged contaminated food that was donated to residents of Gikambura village in Kiambu County.
