The University of Nairobi was host to the official launch of The Office of Career Services.  This is an office that will offer guidance and training to students in matters related to the job market, provide students with accurate information about academic progression and degree requirement and assist students in developing educational plans consistent with their life goals.

Speaking during the launch CS for Education Dr. Amina Mohammed gave a directive for establishment of the office of career services in all universities and tertiary institutions. The office should be operational by end this year 2018. To set up and run the office, the institutions will use their own money but the government will assist where it can said Ms. Mohamed.

The CS also noted that whereas over one million young people are entering the job market annually, only one in five is likely to be employed in the formal sector.

The career Services office is  mandatory  for all institutions and will go a long way in assisting and empowering the students to make the right career choices and also tracking how long their graduates take to get gainful employment.
